WESOŁYCH SWIĄT

HAPPY EASTER WISHES TO ALL OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS, IN ALL PARTS OF THE GLOBE.

We would like to share with you some of the pictures taken during our visit to Łyse, a small country town located in the Kurpie region, North East of Poland.

Łyse comes to life each year during the celebration of Palm Sunday, when the locals display their Palm constructing skills done entirely in colored crepe paper. A truly wonderful homage to Jesus. This tradition now has taken on an advanced role, as there is a competition held each year to judge the best Palm display.
Considering the fact that there are no less than 200 entries in the competition from local school children,  artists and individuals, the judges have a really tough time deciding on the winner.
Of course there is the procession of the Palms, which is truly a colourful moving rainbow carried aloft by the locals and participants from other regions.
A lot of singing and dancing in local costumes particular to the Kurpie region, followed by lots of goodies to eat specially cooked and baked by the locals, not to forget the numerous nalewkas and bimber with enough alcohol to substitute for rocket fuel is freely available. All this makes it a worthwhile trip to Łyse and enjoy a truly traditional Polish event. Viva Polska.
